 Main comics project right now is The Kraken Busters, a comics adaptation of the podcast I did a few years ago. |
 One of my current cartooning projects is Ripsaw, a sort of Doonesburyesque look at life in Minneapolis. It and Kraken Busters sort of take turns being the main focus. |
 For a while, I was making Pickup Switch, a nonfiction look at the history snd design of the electric guitar.It’s on hiatus but could always come back! |
 From 2020 to 2023, I drew a daily cartoon based on the online Iowa City Police Log. There’s a longer writeup here, and Twin Cities Public Television did a feature on the strip. |

 Nowhere Band is my now-completed strip about the experiences of a band that’s never going to get off the bottom rung of the music-scene ladder. It may be a touch autobiographical. Nowhere Band received favorable writeups from Minnesota Public Radio, City Pages, and MetaFilter.com, among others.The strip got zapped by a combo of hackers and an unfortunate software update in early 2020, so I had to repost it. Fortunately, it’s all back up now, and although the strip ended in 2017, some of the characters have been popping back up in Ripsaw. |
MUSICThe Creekside Ruffians are my current main band. I play guitar and sing; we’re a three-piece postpunk group with a pretty strong Americana flavor. Put another way, we rock the hell out. |
 Derailleur is a righteous band in which I play guitar, do some singing, and make weird noises with keyboards and a Kaossilator. To steal a line from myself that I used in Nowhere Band, we sound like either the world’s artiest garage band or the world’s sloppiest art band. |
 The Awesome Boys is who I turn into when I record by myself. Are who? I don’t know. The Awesome Boys are also the protagonists of Nowhere Band. We’re deep in the metafictional weeds here. |
